Is vitamin C as important as they claim?

This is not medical advice I am posting this for educational and informational purposes.

I am posting this because I watched someone live off coffee and meat for weeks and nothing else. I figured they would develop scurvy and they did not. They did develop high blood pressure. Most likely from an increase in bacteroides which can lead to high blood pressure. Meat increases bacteroides.

This first link explains how vitamin C can prevent scurvy.

Eskimos ate an all meat diet and did not develop scurvy so I was like is scurvy real? Could consuming collagen be the answer?

Could it be that something else is producing the vitamin C for those who do not consume it?
