Time to end the ridiculous Candida, SIBO and H Pylori myths.

Written by Lee Stevenson. Sorry I am not the best editor.

There are many myths that have been on the net for quite a while concerning candida, sibo and H Pylori. If you are suffering from them it is a symptom and an indication that other health problems need addressed. It is a case of good gone bad.

Candida and H Pylori are commensal that turn pathogenic when something goes wrong in the body.

https://academic.oup.com/femsyr/article/15/7/fov081/641997?fbclid=IwAR1jJrW1TcEbouOZtZC-8pJgZcNJmUQ2HuZABb0CpjQ2wLVHCuO5sPmAGis

First thing we need to mention is that alkalizing actually feeds candida and other unwanted microbes. Also things that cause Candida to go pathogenic can also cause SIBO. So if you have Candida you most likely have SIBO also.

Those with inhibited vitamin D receptors and inhibited citric acid cycle can get kind of stuck in a state of ketosis which can increase the risk of candida turning pathogenic.

Antibiotics, eating GMOs and the high glyphosate levels found in our food is what is causing so many digestive problems now days. The should only be taken if absolutely necessary. Out of all of them glyphosate is one of the worst. So in order to heal one must do their best to avoid these things.

Not only are antibiotics and glyphosate causing gut dysbiosis and candida overgrowth, they are causing other microbes to become very pathogenic.

https://mbio.asm.org/content/6/2/e00009-15

You have to balance your gut microbiota. To much of one or another can cause problems. Too many of one or another can make you very ill. Many will take the same strains of probiotics daily which will cause them to become out of balance. When this happens a person will become very ill.

If you feel like you are intoxicated you may need molybdenum because candida and other commensals that turn pathogenic can actually make you become intoxicated. Many feel bad after they eat fruit and believe it is because of the sugar. It is not they have too many bacteria producing these toxins. Vitamin B6 and B12 also help with this.

Candida and SIBO can increase ammonia levels in the body. Also metabolic issues can cause high ammonia levels which will cause Candida to go from commensal to pathogenic. If this happens H Pylori will go from commensal to pathogenic. You cannot get them to go back to commensal unless you get your ammonia levels down. The PH of the digestive system is supposed to be acidic. High ammonia levels will cause it to become alkaline making it even more difficult to balance our gut microbiome. When our digestive system becomes alkaline it causes our good gut microbes to become reduces and it makes us more prone to bad. Also our sulfur digesting and methane producing become more numerous will start causing problems with our BH4 and CBS pathways. To break the cycle we must support the metabolic pathways effected and reduce our consumption of meat and high sulfur foods for about three months. Once candida turns pathogenic it will actually contribute to the digestive system and even the bladder becoming alkaline which will make it and other bad microbes increase more rapidly.

Beta Glucan can be found in mushrooms and organic oatmeal. It helps fight candida and many other pathogens.
Beta glucans modulate the immune system helping to normalize it. Many pathogens will cause an over active immune response which helps to stealth them from the immune system. This helps to enhance the immune response to a pathogen. I have posted on beta glucan if you want to learn more.

Those suffering from this will develop higher ammonia levels when they eat meat. Branched chain amino acids may be a good alternative for a source of protein. This is why it is very important to get polyphenols, oligosaccharides and polysaccharides in our diets. It feeds our beneficial bacteria which promotes better health. There are myths about the sugars in foods like fruits and vegetables feeding candida when it becomes pathogenic but the opposite is true. Much of the false information out there drives me to believe that the pharmaceutical companies put it out there to keep people on a hamster wheel of poor health so they will have a steady customer. If we lack certain microbiota we may have to introduce foods slowly and increase our intake as the microbes start increasing. It can take months for some to get back to normal levels.

High ammonia levels, brain fog, fatigue.

This is not medical advice, I am posting this for imformational and educational purposes.

stomache

Hyperammonemia

Homeostasis should always be the goal. If you over do things you can push yourself too far in the other direction and have a whole lot of new problems to deal with.

High levels of ammonia in the body can damage the liver and kidneys. It can irritate the bladder and damage the brain. A person will develop brain foga and, they will develop brain swelling because ammonia makes the blood brain barrier more porous. A person will also develop muscle weakness, blurred vision, confusion and possibly demensia. When ammonia levels get very high a person will start developing high glutamate levels. This will cause a head ache that will make your head feel like it is going to split in half. Dysbiosis, high glyphosate or glufonisate levels in the body can cause high ammonia levels. Infections can also increase ammonia levels, especially tick born illness. High aluminum levels causes a disruption in the cycle needed to convert glutamate to GABA. This causes low GABA levels and high glutamate levels. I have posted on the pineal gland which covers detoxing aluminum. Most species of bifido bacteria will produce GABA if they are provided with fiber or Galacto-oligosaccharide. A bacteria found I swiss chees Propionibacterium Freudenreichii produces substances that enhances the growth and health of bifidobacteria.

Most lactobacillus species of probiotic produce lactate which helps reduce ammonia levels. Glacto-oligosaccharide help increase lactobacillus.

Drugs like fluoroquinolones can cause metabolic issues that can cause high ammonia levels.

High ammonia levels also effect our bladder and our digestive system. It changes the ph increasing it. This causes commensal like Candida and H Pylori to go from commensal to pathogenic forms. In order to restore our health we must work on reducing the ammonia levels in our bodies. Metabolic issues can also cause increased ammonia levels. Porphyria, pronteinuria, BH4 deficiency, and upregulated CBS pathway can cause high ammonia levels. Another why that high ammonia can develop is if the bodies ability to metabolize phenylalanine is blocked or inhibited. Low zinc levels can impair the uric acid cycle which can cause ammonia levels to become raised. I found zinc pocalinate helped me a lot.

When a person is suffering from any of those issues high sulfur foods and meat will make things worse. Also consumption of fats will make someone ill if they have high ammonia levels. Medium chain fatty acids are the best to consume when we have those issues. P5P a bioavailable for of B6, magnesium chloride and getting micro nutrients helps reduce ammonia levels. Molybdenum also becomes depleted but should only be taken a few times a week it can become toxic if we over do it. We need selenium I prefer natural sources to prevent getting too much and messing our thyroids up. I eat about 4 Brazil nuts a day. If you have thyroid issues selenium can cause you to react in a way that resembles a food allergy.

High ammonia levels cause neurological damage throughout the body. It will also cause excessive blood clotting and damage to our blood vessels. Bacopa, grape seed extract and hawthorne help prevent that damage.

High ammonia levels can cause high histamines from leaky gut that high ammonia levels cause which can lead to mast cell degranulation which can result in mast cell activation syndrome or mastocytosis. To reduce histamines probiotics that reduce histamines may help. Avoid high histamine foods and fermented foods including most cheese. I have posted on healing the gut. It is very important to address that or you will not get your ammonia levels down. Also take probiotics that reduce zonulin levels, break down ammonia , decrease inflammation and increase T regulatory cells.

Detoxing any chemicals especially glyphosate and mercury is very important and I have posted on that also.

Determining the cause of your high ammonia levels is very important that helps pinpoint what is needed to help correct it.

Things that help the brain heal are mugwort or wormwood they are very similar chemically, sunflower seed lecithin, coconut oil, butyrate found in butter or ghee. Whey protein has glycoprotein that helps the brain heal, fights infection, and improves cell to cell communication. Mushrooms and oatmeal contain beta glucan which fights infection and helps the brain heal.

Reducing the bad gut bacteria and increasing the good is very important in order to reduce high ammonia levels. High ammonia levels can also be a result of gut dysbiosis especially if a person has too many sulfur digesting gut bacteria.

If we do not address high ammonia levels it can increase our estrogen levels and cause high T4 levels causing thyroid problems.

When we have high ammonia levels it causes our breathing to become slow and deep. This is to increase oxygen in the body because high ammonia levels cause a decrease in oxygen in the blood.

If the water we consume has too many nitrates or we get too many nitrite in our bodies it will increase ammonia levels and make a person suffer from oxygen deprivation from the effects on the read blood cells.

Consuming meat can increase the ammonia levels in the body. If too much meat is consumed it does not digest all the way and will ferment in the lower intestinal tract which causes ammonia to be produced.

Lactulose helps reduce ammonia levels in the intestines. It is fermented to lactate which binds to ammonia prevent it from entering the body. Betaine helps reduce ammonia by helping to recycle the enzymes in the body used to break down and convert proteins. Those with PEMT issues should be cautious with betaine (trimethylglycine). Onithine, arginine, yucca root, butyric acid, vitamin C which should be acquired from natural sources also help reduce ammonia. Manganese ad molybdenum help reduce ammonia in the body but should not be taken in high doses and should not be taken for more then a few times a week they are toxic in high levels in the body. Oligosaccharides and inulin help reduce ammonia in the body. Supporting the pathways that are involved with sulfation will help reduce ammonia levels. Magnesium chloride and P5P (pyidoxal 5 Phosphate).

High ammonia levels can cause other metabolic problems which can lead to high ketone levels which can inhibit many metabolic pathways.

Gingko Biloba helps repair the damage in the brain from high ammonia levels but should not be used for more then a couple of months. Many studies I have read show it starts damaging the liver after about two months. The first three days I took it, all heck broke loose because with the improve blood flow to my brain it started to heal. When it started to heal I got pain in my eyes and a bad ache in the front of my head. I continued taking it and after the third day I could feel my mental clarity coming back and I could focus better. Things with biacelin like skuletaria, plantaine herb and fleabane help repair the damage high ammonia causes. Mugwort, coconut oil and other medium chain fatty acids also help the brain to repair. Creatine levels can also become low but I did not have the money to supplement it so I do not know if it would have benefited me or not. Mugwort helps increase GABA. Rooibos tea also helps increase GABA and helps improve brain function.

A person with high ammonia levels may have problems oxidizing fats. Medium chain fatty acids can be readily used by the body which can help promote healing.

Because protein can cause ammonia levels to become low I added glycoproteins to my diet which helped me a lot. I got those from mushrooms and whey protein. We still need to consume some meat. When I had to consume meat I would take protease enzymes like papain, bromelain and beataine with my meal to help increase the break down of the protein thus preventing the build up of ammonia in the gut. I still had to address the metabolic issues.

Though I am not big on drugs rifaximin and neomycin taken together has been shown to help with gut dysbiosis. You will have to take probiotics to replace the good gut microbes. I have posting on taking those. You must do it with caution. Taking too much of one type or taking them too often can lead to gut dysbiosis putting you back to where you started.

High ammonia levels can inhibit autophagy which will contribute to lysosomal issues. This will increase ammonia levels even more. Nobiline and fulvic acid stimulate autophagy but should be used in moderation.

Another problem that can develop is high insulin levels and low glucose levels. I found snacking often helped keep the proteins in my body from being broken down. Most with high ammonia levels have protein deficiencies from the many metabolic issues. I have posted a summary of my notes on metabolic issues and information on things that may help. I would make small shakes with whey protein. You have to make sure they did not add phenylalanine in the whey protein or it will make you worse. Many whey protein shake mixes and proteins and phenylalanine will increase ammonia levels in the body. I also bought bee pollen because it is high in protein and micro nutrients. I added it to my shake. I grow purslaine which has almost all the nutrients the body needs and I added that to my shakes. If I did not have any of those things I would eat carrot sticks or a couple of nuts. I found walnuts helped me the most. Hazlenuts and and pecans helped me a lot but if I ate too many they gave me an upset stomach. Pecans helped me but I could only eat about five of them, anymore then that and I would become nauseated. Brazil nuts helped me a lot but they are high in selenium so I would not recommend more then four or so a day. By preventing our sugar levels from dropping it helps preserve our proteins in our bodies. Once your ammonia levels come down your insulin levels and glucose levels will normalize.

Addressing inflammation is very important because the high ammonia levels causes systematic inflammation. This leads to metabolic issues and can cause and imbalance in the immune system.

I posted on the vitamin D receptor. It becomes inhibited when we have high ammonia levels. Taking Vitamin D is useless unless you address the other receptors that work with the vitamin D receptor this is why vitamin K, vitamin E, Vitamin A and other oil soluble vitamins are important. They must be taken with an oil for the body to absorb them. I used cod liver oil that had lemon juice to prevent it from oxidizing. Cod liver oil contains many of those nutrients. Studies have found that synthetic vitamin C does more harm then good so use natural vitamin D if you take it. Also studies have shown doses of vitamin D over 5000 IU can have a negative impact on our health. Most studies show that taking vitamin D had benefits at first but as it build up in the body it would start negatively impacting our health. I pulsed the vitamin D I took to just maintain levels in my body. I did not take it until I had the other oil soluble vitamins needed.

Antioxidants help reduce the oxidative stress from the high ammonia levels but should be used in moderation once the oxidative stress has been reduced because we need oxidative stress for healing and nutrient absorption. If we reduce reactive oxygen species too low we start losing the ability to heal and to absorb nutrients. Those who have hepatitis need to avoid things that contain resveratrol like grape seed extract because resveratrol activates hepatitis virus. L-lysien, and helicase inhibitors found in the skin or red apples, self heal and lemon balm help with hepatitis and herpes type viruses.

Branched Chain Ammino Acids help restore metabolic pathways and stimulate healing. Whey protein in high in branched chain ammino acids. Though whey protein has to be digested and broken down taking the supplements will help the body more readily absorb them. Eggs are high in BCAAs but many with sulfation issues have problems with consuming high choline foods and may feel ill after eating them. Isoleucine, valine and leucine are the three branched chain ammino acids that could be taken in supplement form.

Calcium-D-Glucarate helps with the brain fog from high ammonia levels. It can be found in the area for urinary tract infections at most pharmacies. Calcium-D-Glucarate also reduces ammonia in the body produced from breaking down protein. Calcium-D-Glucarate also reduces estrogen levels in the body which is often times high in those with high ammonia levels. It also helps the body to reduce toxins.

Bicarbonate rich mineral water can help restore insulin levels and improve blood glucose levels. I could not afford it so I used a tablespoon of baking soda in a glass of water about three times a week and it helped me a lot.

Citrulline helps reduce ammonia in the body but should only be taken a few times a week. If citrulline is taken daily it should be low dose. The liver recycles it and it can build up in the body. If levels get too high it can start causing liver damage and damage to the red blood cells. Citrulline also helps those who have lysinuric protein intolarnce. Those with Lysinuric Protein intolerance may benefit from taking the bioavailable forms of proteins L-lysine, L-argine, L-carnitine and L-ornithine because they are deficient in them. Malabsorption issues can also cause a deficiency in these. If a person is experiencing this their bones may become brittle and they may experience hair loss.

The reason I do not recommend glutamine for those with high ammonia levels is because the liver is usually stressed and it can add to the liver stress.

High Ammonia/Alkalosis Levels in chronic illness.

Ammonia is very toxic to the body and can be formed when there are too many toxins, endotoxins can cause it, vitamin deficiencies, infections, farm chemicals in our food, vitamin deficiencies can cause it and oxidative stress can cause high ammonia levels. When we have high ammonia levels it alkalize our digestive system and our bladder. They are normally acidic. Most pathogens thrive in an alkaline environment. Candida goes from commensal to pathogenic in an alkaline environment and then it will start to alkalize even more. This kills our good bacteria that regulates our gut and bladder PH. I rarely ever fart now I have reach gut homeostasis.

If not addressed it can cause brain swelling.

http://www.neuroradiologycases.com/2012/02/hyperammonemic-encephalopathy-mri.html

Toxins can cause Lysinuric protein intolerance which causes high ammonia levels when protein is consumed. I did a post on proteinuria it should help with this. If not addressed this can lead to copd or NAFLD.

One of the differences between acidosis and alkalosis is that nerves become hyper sensitive in alkalosis and we become excitable. In acidosis nerves are depressed and we become drowsy. Alkalosis is usually caused by fungal infections acidosis by infections that produce endotoxins like Lyme or a viral infection.

Symptoms include brain fog, depression, delusions, neurological problems, swelling in the throat, gut dysbiosis, interstitial cystitis or frequent bladder infections, gall stones the list goes on and on.

Protein intolerance can cause this. I addressed that in my post on porphyria. Protein intolerance is one symptom of porphyria. It is referred to as phenylketonuria when you eat protein or foods high in phenylalanine you will get sicker.

If you have a blocked or upregualted CBS pathway , or an upregulated BH4 pathway and don’t address it this could make you ill. Most with those issues would benefit from taking P5P, selenium, and magnesium citrate. Also three times a week molybdenum and manganese. Do not use magnesium citrate more then twice a week. The body recycles it and it can build up in the body and start causing liver and kidney damage and destroy red blood cells. Citrate also reduces oxalates.

Issues with our CBS pathway could also cause high ammonia levels. Anything that causes high sulfite levels can cause high ammonia levels. Gene mutations only present when there are many things wrong, once I got my ammonia levels and sulfite levels down I could start consuming high sulfur foods again. I still take the nutrients once in a while to support those pathways so it does not become a problem again. Glyphosate also effects the pathways negatively so we should try our best to eat organic. Also if we have gut dysbiosis then we need to address that because that raises our sulfite and hydroxy radical levels which also causes high ammonia levels.

Not getting enough cholesterol, high sulfite level, and oxidative stress can inhibit bile production. This make H Pylori go from commensal to a pathogenic form. Bile helps detox ammonia from the body. If it feels like a brick is in your stomach after you eat and you get gassy then you have low bile production which will lead to low stomach acid production. Your food is fermenting instead of being digested which will also cause high sulfite levels and high ammonia levels.

Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction. Also known as Herxing, can be life threatening.

Adult_deer_tick(cropped)

This is not medical advice and should not be taken as such. I am posting this for educational and informational purposes.

Herxing is what most who are ill get when they have a pathogen. It is from the excitotoxins and endotoxins produced from the dying pathogen. It is why we should ease into killing pathogens off. Too much die off can overwhelm the body causing sepsis then herxing is only a minor part of the problem. This happened to me. Many herbs kill pathogens just as well as antibiotics. Even though many naturals do not have the side effects medications do you can still develop sepsis if you kill too much too soon. The Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction can be dangerous. It is why I believe a person should slowly ease into killing pathogens. Some of the damage from a Herx reaction can be permanent, it could even cause death. When I took wormwood the herxing was very bad so I backed of and took a very low dose then I slowly built up as my pathogen load started coming down. You will be able to tell because the herx reaction will not be as bad but when you increase each time you will herx again until eventually you can take a full dose with very little herx reaction.

Leaky Gut, Oxalates and more supplement information.

This is not medical advice and should not be taken as such. I am posting this for educational and informational purposes.

Avoid GMOs they cause leaky gut and gut dysbiosis. If you do not know about them read my post on them. They and the chemicals used on them cause oxalates which I mention later in this article. They kill our good gut microbes. This is a list of gut microbiota and what conditions they help with.

Mucilage every few hours helps a lot with leaky gut. When you have leaky gut it causes high oxalate levels. This causes a cycle that is hard to break because oxalates prevent the gut from healing. Mucilage can help heal the gut breaking the cycle. Mucilage helped me the most with healing my gut.

Things that are high in mucilage are Okra, organic Oatmeal, Aloe Vera I found the liquid gel worked the best dried aloe vera seemed ineffective. Besella Alba known as Malabar Spinach, Irish moss but you have to watch consuming it, it has a cannabinoid that reduces pain but has side effects if you consume too much. Most plants in the mallow family are very high in mucilage and have very good healing properties. Most plants in the dioscera family are high in mucilage especially the chinese wild yam. Fenugreek is high in mucilage. Flax seeds are high mucilage but if you have leaky gut they should be ground up to prevent other heath issues. Most seaweeds are high in mucilage. Licorice root is high mucilage but you have to make sure it is deglycyrrhizinated if not it can cause many health problems. Mullein is high mucilage and helps with lung infections. Most edible plants in the daisy and sunflower family are high in mucilage. Wild Daisy helped me a lot. Pysillium seed husk are high in mucilage they are seeds from the plantain herb. Plantain herb itself is very high in mucilage. Wild violet is very high in mucilage. Chia seed is high in mucilage most seed is. Slippery Elm is high in mucilage but some claim it is high oxalate , I have never tried it. Most roots herbs are high in mucilage. Arrow root is very high in mucilage.

If you have been damaged by GMOs or antibiotics and have gut dysbiois and it feels like you have a brick in your gut after you eat, you may not be producing enough intrinsic factor which is needed in order for your body to absorb vitamin B12.  A deficiency in B12 causes many serious health problems. These are some things that may increase intrinsic factor.

We need to avoid Omega 6 oils. Most of that comes from corn oil,soy bean oil, vegetable oil, and lard. Most of those are from GMOs also. They will cause inflammation in the body if we get too much.

Probiotics are one of the keys to healing the gut. They should be geared to what health issues we are dealing with.

Healing Leaky Gut

It is very important to

If you have Lyme there is very little knowledge in the medical community to assist with healing and fighting the disease it and other infections can raise zonulin levels causing leaky gut.. There are a few elite doctors who cared enough to do their own research. This is not medical advice. I am posting this to enable people to find the things they need to research to aid in their own healing. Always let your doctor know if you have any diet changes or you take any supplements. Always listen to your body, because it will tell you what is good for it and what is not. When you make any diet changes, whether it is supplements or food, only make one or two changes at a time so that if you have a reaction you will be able to identify what the cause of the problem is.

When you have leaky gut food particles can get into your blood stream which will raise your histamine levels. Signs of raised histamine levels are burning skin , headaches, confusion, fatigue, muscle spasms, blocked urinary track. The list goes on and on so it is very important to get the gut healed or you cannot fight infection or heal.

Healing the Gut

If you have any digestive problems you must take care of those first. Everything is tied to the digestive tract, even the brain. Problems with digestion can lead to a domino effect leading to trouble with hormones, bladder, liver the cardiovascular system, autoimmune system, and even mental health. If you do not get digestive problems taken care of you are fighting a losing battle whatever else you do.

Primary to getting the gut to heal is avoiding foods containing GMOs. They have been shown to damage the digestive system, among other issues.

If you are fighting an infection or dysbiosis the die off can cause bloating. I had to ease into things so I did not bloat too bad. Many probiotics can cause die off of pathogens and some of the bad gut bacteria which will also cause bloating.

Liquid Aloe Vera — this coats the stomach and helps it heal. It has also been shown to fight Candida and H-Pylori when they have switched from commensal to pathogenic forms. Has been shown to reduce oxalates.

Mucilage helps heal the gut. Some wild plants are high in mucilage like Wild Violets and Dandelion, the roots of Evening Primrose are high in mucilage. Plants in the mallow family are high in mucilage. Marshmallow root has many healing properties. The plants with the highest mucilage content are Spinach Vine, Irish Moss, Wild Yam, Fenugreek, Crushed Flax seed, Kelp, Marshmallow Root, Mullein, Okra, Psylium husk which is from the seeds of plantain herb, chia seeds and Broad Leaf Plantain herb. Some may have oxalates but we cannot avoid oxalates we need to address the issues causing high oxalates. Almost all foods have oxalates, cooking breaks down oxalates. But avoiding oxalates entirely will cause you more health problems then it would cure.

Mastic Gum — coats the stomach and has also been shown to fight many pathogens. This is

dried sap from the mastic tree and can be found in health food stores. Coating the stomachache is very important. I know mucilage can inhibit nutrient absorption but you cannot heal if you do not coat your stomach.

Biofilms

This is a list of things that break biofilms or aid the gut in healing. When the biofilms break up you will defecate mucous for about a month sometimes it will appear as if it is a piece of your intestine. I found that very scary and had to ask people who have went through it what it was. There is no information I could find to explain it. Breaking Biofilms is very important in healing our gut if our gut issues are from an infection..

Propolis — a resin produced by bees, so anyone with allergies to bees should not use this one. It has been shown to bust biofilms, kill many pathogens, and to promote gut healing.

Pepto-Bismol — I kept this on hand for when the aloe vera didn’t seem to help. You have to be careful you can herx from this because bismuth kills many pathogens. Bismuth has been shown to also break up biofilms.

phospholipids (good fats) – omega 3s are the best to use. Oils like grape seed oil, sesame seed oil , olive oil contain omaega 3s. Try avoiding Omega 6 it is needed by the body but if we get too much it can cause inflammation.

Garlic- garlic has many healing properties along with breaking up biofilms a killing pathogens. If you have high sulfite levels from having too many sulfur digesting bacteria this will make you ill because it is high sulfur and will raise your sulfite levels. I had this problem but one of the most potent chemicals in garlic is allicin and it does not cause issues with sulfites. I used it and it worked very well for me.

Stevia- it has to be Stevia extract because it needs the cofactors to work. Make sure you get organic because there is GMO Stevia. It also kills many pathogens including Lyme.

Xylitol-has very potent antibiotic properties. Many get cramps when they use it. I got cramps but I had an infected tooth and it worked very well for taking the infection out.

Cinnamon – breaks biofilms, high in mucilage coats the stomachache and helps with nausea. It has been shown to inhibit pain.

Cholesterol breaks biofilms is needed by almost all cells in the body. The brain and heart cannot function without it. Oxidative stress from leaky gut can cause high oxLDL. If you avoid cholesterol because of that you will be inhibiting your bodies ability to heal. When you reduce the source of the oxidative stress your oxLDL will return to normal. Cholesterol is an antioxidant and is used by the body to protect cells from pathogens. Cholesterol is needed to maintain the integrity of the digestive system and bladder.

Chlorophyll – fights Candida, helps remove toxins such as heavy metals from the body, and improves the health of our blood, as well as to protect the good bacteria. Sources of chlorophyll include green leafy vegetables and seaweed, but make sure the seaweed has come from a non-contaminated source. You can purchase liquid chlorophyll. I only used it for about a week and then I backed off to three times a week. There are many health benefits to liquid chlorophyll. It raises oxygen levels in the blood and restores the ph of our bladder and digestive system. It fights many pathogens. It feeds the good gut bacteria while reducing the bad. Those with SIBO will bloat when using this and herx from the die off of the sulfur digesting and methane producing bacteria. If you have SIBO and are going to use chlorophyll I would ease into using it. Liquid chlorophyll also raises oxygen levels in the body and helps restore the health of our blood cells.

Apple cider vinegar – helps fight Candida, breaks up biofilms and kills pain better then aspiron.

Mushrooms — bust biofilms, kill Candida, and fight many other diseases. Most mushrooms will do this. Mushrooms also contain glycoproteins which improve the bodies cell to cell communication so you can heal quicker. Glycoproteins also kill many pathogens so you could herx from them. Mushrooms also contain Beta Glucan which helps restore the good gut bacteria and fights pathogens.

Coconut oil — breaks biofilms and kills pathogens. It can even cross the blood brain barrier and improves brain health. The body converts coconut oil’s lauric acid to monolauren, which has been shown to fight many pathogens, reduce the number of Lyme spyrochetes in Lyme sufferers, and also crosses the blood brain barrier to contribute to improved brain health. Coconut oil contains many of the electrolytes needed by the body. When ill you need more electrolytes then usual.

Bromelain – breaks up biofilms helps fight pathogens , helps with digestion and reduces ammonia in the body.

Flax seed oil — breaks biofilms and fights pathogens. It has Omega-3 fatty acids which help protect the digestive system. Do not use too much flax seed and alternate the days you take it. Taking too much seems to cancel out its health benefits. Also has a canibinoid similar to thc so it reduces pain.

Inulin — promotes healthy bacteria in the digestive system, aiding in the break down and absorption of nutrients. Some sources of inulin are onions, garlic, bananas, dandelion root, chicory root, Jerusalem artichoke, asparagus, barley.

Oxalates.

Symptoms of high oxalates is joint pain, mental fog, anxiety , depression, kidney and liver pain, muscle fatigue, digestive pain, bladder pain, vulvodynia, indigestion when foods containing oxalates are consumed, and skin rashes. Many things can cause oxalates. Metabolic issues, leaky gut, high histamines, gut dysbiosis which cause there to be too many sulfur digesting and methane producing bacteria, which cause high sulfite level and high hydroxy radical levels which result in oxidative stress which also causes oxalates. Toxins such as glyphosate, glufosinate and many other farm chemicals. Also heavy metals, endotoxins, and alfoxins can cause oxalates to form.

http://www.lowoxalate.info/research.html

http://bioindividualnutrition.com/oxalates-their-influence-on-chronic-disease/

Oxalates break down when cooked so foods that are high in oxalates like spinach make sure you cook before eating. We cannot avoid oxalates they are in most food.

Oxalates prevent the body from healing and also hinder the gut from healing. That becomes a viscous cycle because when you have leaky gut you will develop high histamines and toxins can easily enter the blood stream, those also cause oxalates. Endotoxins and Afloxin can also cause oxalates. So it is very important to detox. Also metablolic issues and high sulfite levels can cause high oxalates so those should be addressed before detoxing. High sulfite levels can be caused from having too many sulfur digesting bacteria (gut dysbiosis). That in itself will cause many health issues like high ammonia levels. You can heal the gut with high oxalate levels but you must consume a lot of high mucilage foods to coat and protect the gut.

Here is a list of some things that reduce oxalates. I will post some links to some information also.

Oxalates cause inflammation.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3807999/

We have gut bacteria that breaks down oxalates. If we are deficient in them it will raise our oxalate levels. They need the other friendly gut microbiome to establish. If we are lacking in the other gut bacteria they will not establish when we take them. They require an oligosaccharide to get established and remain in the gut. The also need sugar the type found in fruit , honey, or maple syrup will help them establish.

Oxalobacter Formingene

Bififobacterium Adolescentis

Bifidobacteriium Anamalis

Lactobacillus Acidophilus

Lactobacillus Gasseri

Lactobacillus Rhamnosus

Lactobacillus Planatarum

Enterococcus Faecalis reduces oxalates but consuming to much salt inhibits it’s ability to degrade oxalates.

Make sure you drink plenty of water. It needs to be free of chlorine or flouride because they cause oxalates and are very toxic to the body.

Avoid artificial sweeteners and processed sugar they can cause oxalates.

Sodium bicarbonate- be careful do not use more then a tablespoon in a glass of water it is a very strong base which means in high amounts it can cause burns. I only took it about 3 times a week.

Citric Acid which is not vitamin C helps reduce oxalates. Lemon juice is a good source of citric acid. It irritated my gut if I used it straight so I put it in my water with a little honey.

Do not take calcium get it from natural sources , calcium reduces oxalates but the calcium found in many supplements is the wrong type and can cause oxalates. Stinging nettles is one of the best sources of calcium. Most foods contain adequate amounts of calcium. If someone has bone loss it is usually from a magnesium or silica deficiency.

Excess salt causes oxalates. I use sea salt. Studies have found using sea salt cuts the craving for salt because of the trace minerals it contains.

Magnesium Citrate reduces oxalates. Also there are many metabolic pathways that need magnesium. When they do not have the nutrients they need oxalates can be produced.

Phytic acid found in grains can cause oxalates. We need phytic acid but should limit our intake of grains.

Foods that raise histamines like fermented foods, aged meats and some cheeses, also yogurt. High histamine levels can cause oxalates.

Vitamin B6 reduces oxalates, I had to use P5P because I wasn’t converting B6/

Vitamin E reduces oxalates. Most seeds contain vitamin E. If you eat flax seeds they have to be crushed or you will not digest them. Avocados are high in vitamin E. Also Olive oil is high in vitamin E. Mango and hazel nuts .

NAC N-Acetyl Cysteine reduces oxalates.

https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/10715762.2016.1221507?journalCode=ifra20

Aloe Vera has been shown to reduce oxalates.

Thiamine deficiency can cause high oxalates.

https://alobar.livejournal.com/2510679.html

Do not take more then 4000 IU of vitamin D it can cause oxaltes in very high doses.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8382134

Vitamin D in the correct amounts actually reduces oxalalates. There is a saying the poison is in the dose. I often find that to be true.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19734276

The flavonoids found in the white part of citrus fruits will reduce oxalates.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4616898/

Eating too much meat can cause oxalates to form. mainly in those with metabolic issues.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1455427/

Spirulina reduces oxalates but some with high sulfite levels may have trouble with it. I can take it now but it did make me worse because it is high in sulfur.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3972226/

http://redmountainclinic.com/the-down-side-to-high-oxalates-problems-with-sulfate-b6-gut-and-methylation/

We need vitamin C to heal. Ester-C has been shown to actually reduce oxalates and can usually be taken by those with interstitial cystitis.

If you have excess oxidative stress it can cause oxalates to form so it must be addressed.

Molybdenum helps reduce ammonia which can cause oxidative stress. Do not take too much it can be toxic if it get to high in our bodies. Many metabolic pathways need it but we do not want to overload on it.

Herbs for Healing

salsify, and burdock root. Some people are allergic to foods that contain inulin. Most foods that contain fiber that is hard to digest will help balance and protect the good gut bacteria. The allergic reaction is most likely a herx reaction and not an allergic reaction.

Acanthus Ilicifolius – increases production of osteoblast which are necessary for bone growth and health. Has been shown to help gastric ulcers heal. Has strong antibacterial and antifungal properties.

Embilia Ribes (False Black Pepper) — helps with flatulence, kills parasites, decreases homocysteine levels, and reduces symptoms of brain disorders. Lowering homocysteine levels would help with allergies and mast cell activation syndrome.

Pectin — breaks biofilms and lowers bad cholesterol. Pectin is a type of fiber. Food sources include apricots, peaches, apples, bananas, oranges, grapes, carrots, tomatoes and white potatoes.

Phospholipids — protect the digestive system, promote healing, and protect against cancer and infections. Some sources of phospholipids are butter, ghee, and mercury-free fish oil.

Butyric acid — protects our digestive system from infection, protects the body from cancer, aids in breaking food down into smaller particles that are easier for our bodies to absorb and make use of the nutrients. Butyric acid is produced when we consume hard to digest fiber, such as that in celery. It can also be found in ghee and butter. Also some of our microbiome produce this from fiber we consume.

Clove oil — has been shown to fight many pathogens and settles your stomach. This one really helped me because I was having trouble eating due to the nausea from my leaky gut.

Restoring Gut bacteria.

Probiotics — help restore the good bacteria to our digestive system, fight pathogens, and break down our foods. Choose a probiotic supplement with Bifidus and active Acidophilus cultures – the higher the number of cultures the better. The important gut bacteria to get is B Lactis , L Acidophilus, L Rhamnosus , L Salivarius, L Plantarum , B Animalis, B Longus, B Brevi, B Infantis.

Avoid things that contain Lactobaccilus Casei, L Lactis, L Reuteri, L Fermentum/Fermenti, L Paracaei, L Faecum , L Bulgaricus, Streptococcus Thermophilus.

If you start feeling bloated you may be getting to many good gut bacteria which can cause harm also. Get lots of prebiotics it feeds and protects the good gut bacteria and balances it out. Happy gut bacteria will help protect your immune system and help rebuild it.

Fireweed – Helps normalize gut flora, supports the good gut bacteria. Reduces inflammation and symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. High in mucilage which heals the gut.

Bone broth — helps leaky gut and has the added benefit of containing many nutrients. If you have high sulfite levels or sufation issues you will need to address them before using this. It is high in glutamate and those issues can cause high glutamate levels which will cause very bad headaches and brain fog.

L-Glutamine — helps heal the soft tissue in the gut and is involved in many metabolic processes, fueling white blood cells and many other cells. Unfortunately, animal flesh is the best source of L-glutamine. I say unfortunately because if you have methylation problems digesting meat may be difficult for you. Whey protein and other dairy products are high in L-glutamine, as are eggs, nuts, seeds, lentils and other legumes, but all contain phenylalanine, which can also create problems if you are not methylating right.

I take betaine (trimethylglycine), derived from beets, to aid with the methylation. It has helped me I now rarely get ill when eating things that contain phenylalanine. Bromelain and papaya enzymes are also supposed to help with methylation. Cabbage is a good source of L-glutamine. If you have a blocked or upregualted CBS pathway , or an upregulated BH4 pathway and don’t address it this could make you ill. Most with those issues would benefit from taking P5P, selenium, and magnesium citrate. Also three times a week molybdenum and manganese.

If the pathways for using phenylalanine is blocked then foods high in phenylalanine will raise your ammonia levels and histamine levels which in turn can give you phenylaturia or homocysteinuria. Phenylaturia causes high ammonia levels which alkalize the digestive system and bladder making us prone to infection and dysbiosis. Protease enzymes may help with that. Meat is high in phenylalanine if you get ill after eating meat then you may have a problem.

If you eat foods that raise your glutathione levels like cruciferous vegetables then you may have a CBS pathway blocked which can make you feel ill. What helped me with that was P5P, Methylcolobamine and Molybdenum which I only take a few times a week.

— Avoid things high in tannic acid, such as coffee.

— Do not drink alcohol.

— Many things in processed foods can cause leaky gut, so try to eat foods made from whole, fresh ingredients.

Processed Sugar causes inflammation so try your best to avoid it in all its forms. Other sugars like those found in fruits, honey, organic black strap molasses have been found to fight pathogens and actually promote healing.

Lowering Histamine levels. Leaky gut causes high histamine levels which causes a loop that prevents us from healing because histamines cause inflammation.

Avoid foods high in histamines especially fermented foods, cheese and yogurt. Also avoid aged meats. Everyone is different, some can eat one high histamine food and not another and vice versa.

Things that help lower histamine levels. There are many protease enzyme that help with that I used Bromelain and Betaine along with serrapeptase because it helps dissolve scar tissue caused by chronic disease and also lowers histamine levels. Be careful even those protease enzymes are good for lowering histamine and homocysteine levels if taken to often it can lower your homocysteine levels too low.

Other protease enzyme that are supposed to work well like Papain and Nattokinase I have never tried them. Nattokinase is supposed to help with renal and lymph blockages. Nattokinase is supposed to help reduce carcinogenic estrogen levels.

American Skullcap Tea – not to be confused with chinese which has different health benefits. American Skullcap promotes relaxation, reduces seizures, inhibits food allergies. Has amazing healing abilities. I did experience problems with this at first because it improve the health of blood vessels and helps repair nerves. Useful Info On Food And Herbs.

These are a list of things I have found in my research to try to heal from Lyme. This is not medical advice if you are not well see a doctor. If you take any supplements or herbs let your doctor know. Only take one new item at a time so if you have a reaction you will be able to figure out what caused the reaction. A good site for drug interactions is http://www.webmd.com .

Try your best to stay away from GMOs and vaccinations, processed foods with their saturated fats. By now you should know the harm they do to your body. I put this list together to give others an idea on some things they could research.

CoQ10 – Ubiquinol which is the unoxidized form of CoQ10 is the most bio-available form. It protects the mitochondria, cardiovascular system. It helps with the bodies energy production at the cellular level. It helps regulate blood sugar levels and improves the health of the immune system. It is fat soluble so must be taken with a healthy fat. Recommended Daily (RDA) allowance is 90 to 100 micrograms (mcg)
