Teasel (dipsacus spp)
Dipsacus fullonum is the species most are used to seeing but there are other species and because the phytochemicals are very similar I am going to speak about depsacus spp as a whole. Teasel contains a chemical that has been found to prevent soft tissue degeneration and reduce soft tissue inflammation. Most of the experiments with Dipsacus species have been on animals but my experience I have seen first hand many of those experiments to translate over to humans which is rare in animal experiments.
Teasel contains a chemical that helps prevent neurological and brain damage. Many species of teasel were shown to be effective against a variety of borellia species which causes Lyme disease.
Teasel is effective against many types of gut bacteria that causes inflammation and may be why it improves joint health and prevents joint inflammation. It also is effective against many types of fungus infections. Lyme can cause bone deteriation. Teasel has been shown to reduce bone deterioration.
Teasel has potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
